Welcome to Vapor Savvy
I am a reformed smoker that has become a loyal and regular user of vaporizers for more than 2 years now. I have built this site to share my experiences and knowledge with others who would like to live a healthier life (without giving up their enjoyment of the use of herbs) by learning and practicing the art and efficient use of vaporizers. If you know enough about vaporizers that you want to get down to the nitty-gritty with no delay, feel free to head to the Vapor Savvy Guide and start reading the reviews of some incredibly effective portable vaporizers I own and have used.
What Is a Vaporizer?
A vaporizer extracts without combustion (but still by inhalation) the active ingredients of plant material, typically cannabis, tobacco or other herbs or blends. Vaporization is an alternative to smoking which avoids the creation of irritating, toxic, and carcinogenic by-products; this is done by heating the material (there are many methods from which to choose) to a high enough temperature to convert the active compounds of the herbs into a vapor. Since no combustion occurs, no smoke or smell of smoke is created. Vapor ideally contains virtually zero particulate matter or tar, and significantly lower concentrations of noxious gases such as carbon monoxide.
Different vaporizers offer various forms of extraction chambers and can be made of various materials, including metal, plastic, glass and even wood. The extracted vapor may be collected in a jar or inflatable bag, or inhaled directly through a hose or pipe. With little to no smoke produced and cooler temperatures, the irritating and harmful effects of smoking are greatly reduced or eliminated, as is secondhand smoke. Additionally, since fewer herbs are required to obtain the same effect as through smoking (with smoking, much of the material literally wafts to the ceiling or skies, with enough lingering at head level to allow you to breathe it in), vaporization is also a financially wise move for anyone consuming herbs.
